Remo Stars FC have been relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to the Nigeria National League (NNL) following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
The club confirmed the development in an emotional statement released on its official platforms, describing the outcome as “heartbreaking” for supporters, players, staff, and everyone associated with the club.

According to the statement, Remo Stars acknowledged that they failed to meet the standards and consistency required to maintain their top-flight status despite high expectations surrounding the team this season.
“We understand the disappointment and frustration this season has brought,” the club stated.
“The expectations attached to this club were high, and rightly so. Unfortunately, we did not deliver the performances or consistency required to maintain our place in the division. We take full responsibility for that failure.”
The former NPFL champions also expressed gratitude to fans for their unwavering support throughout the difficult campaign, praising supporters for standing by the team during challenging moments.
Despite the setback, the club insisted it remains committed to rebuilding and returning stronger.
“Our focus now turns toward rebuilding with purpose and determination. Important decisions will be made and every effort will be directed toward returning this club to where it belongs,” the statement added.
The relegation marks a disappointing chapter for Remo Stars, who were once celebrated as one of the rising forces in Nigerian football.
