Arsenal Suffer Huge Blow as Top Defender Ruled Out for Season

Arsenal FC have confirmed that defender Ben White will miss the remainder of the club’s Premier League title run-in after suffering a knee injury in Sunday’s victory over West Ham United.

The 28-year-old, who has featured 30 times for Arsenal in all competitions this season, is also expected to miss England’s FIFA World Cup campaign.

White was forced off in the 28th minute of Arsenal’s crucial 1–0 win at the London Stadium and was later seen leaving the ground wearing a knee brace.

In an official statement, Arsenal revealed that the defender sustained a “significant medial ligament injury,” ruling him out of the Gunners’ final two Premier League matches as well as the UEFA Champions League final.

“Our medical team are now managing Ben’s recovery and rehabilitation programme, with everyone fully focused on supporting the aim of Ben being ready for the start of our pre-season preparations,” the club stated.

The injury presents manager Mikel Arteta with a selection dilemma at right-back heading into the decisive stage of the season.

Arteta initially shifted Declan Rice into the role against West Ham before later introducing Cristhian Mosquera.

White’s absence is a major setback for Arsenal as they continue their push for the Premier League title and prepare for the Champions League final.
