Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, will adopt a more aggressive approach when they face the Senegal Women’s National Football Team in their second international friendly at the Remo Stars Sports Complex on Monday.
Head coach Justine Madugu revealed that the nine-time African champions are determined to improve on their performance after a closely contested first encounter in Ikenne-Remo on Friday.
The Super Falcons secured a 2-1 victory in the opening friendly, thanks to goals from Asisat Oshoala and Toni Payne. Senegal pulled one back late in the match, setting up another competitive clash between the two sides.
Speaking ahead of Monday’s encounter, Madugu said his team would be more purposeful in attack as preparations continue for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The two teams last met in a competitive fixture during the qualification series for the 2016 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria advanced 3-1 on aggregate after drawing the first leg 1-1 and winning the return leg 2-0.
At the continental tournament in Morocco, Nigeria will be chasing a record-extending 11th WAFCON title and have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and Malawi.
Senegal, meanwhile, will compete in Group A with hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya.
The tournament, scheduled for July 25 to August 16 in Morocco, will also serve as the African qualifying competition for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The top four teams will qualify automatically, while the fifth-placed team will advance to an intercontinental playoff for a chance to reach the global showpiece.
