Zamfara United Football Club has commenced the screening of players ahead of the upcoming Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) season.
The screening exercise, which took place at the Zamfara College of Arts and Science (ZACAS) Football Complex, attracted about thirty aspiring players on its opening day.

Speaking exclusively with Donsportsarena.com on Monday after the exercise, the Team Manager of Zamfara United, Ado Garba Gusau, said the turnout is expected to increase in the coming days, as invitations have been extended to aspiring footballers across the state’s fourteen local government areas, as well as players from outside Zamfara State.

Gusau explained that the screening exercise will continue until the end of the month, after which the best-performing players will be selected to form the team for the new season. He added that intensive training would follow immediately after the screening to ensure adequate preparation.
The Team Manager assured football-loving residents of the state that Zamfara United is fully committed to having a successful season, with the target of securing promotion back to the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNL).
Also speaking, the Head Coach of the team, Sani Hassan, expressed satisfaction with the level of fitness and performance displayed by the players who turned up on the first day of the screening. He noted that more players are expected to join the exercise in the coming days.

Similarly, the Assistant Coach, Anas Abdullahi, described the turnout as encouraging, despite what he said was a late announcement of the screening.

He noted that the players’ response demonstrated their commitment and passion for the club.
Abdullahi, a former captain of Zamfara United, expressed confidence that the team will return to the top flight of football in the country.
