Harry Kane Tipped for Barcelona Move as Lewandowski’s Future Hangs in the Balance

England captain Harry Kane has been encouraged to consider a move to Barcelona, with growing uncertainty surrounding Robert Lewandowski’s future at the Spanish club.

Kane, who joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, has a £56 million release clause that becomes active next summer. While Spurs have been linked with a sensational reunion, a move to Catalonia has now emerged as a possible option.

Lewandowski’s current deal at the Nou Camp runs until 2026, but his agent Pini Zahavi has admitted that no decision has been made about his long-term future.

“Lewandowski’s contract with Barcelona expires in the summer of 2026, and no decisions have been made yet,” Zahavi told Sport. “We have to wait and see what happens in the coming days. There is nothing official regarding negotiations with Saudi Arabian teams. There are no offers at this time.”

The 37-year-old has scored an impressive 105 goals in 156 appearances for Barcelona, but if he departs, the club may look to Kane as a natural replacement.

Former Tottenham star Gus Poyet believes the move would suit the England striker.

“If he wants something different for his family, I would definitely go to Barcelona — if Lewandowski leaves,” Poyet told GOAL. “The style of play at Barcelona right now, a player like him up front… he will score — wow, will he score!”

Kane has also hinted that his future could be open beyond Bayern Munich.

“I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation,” the 32-year-old said during England duty. “Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else.”

Although the striker has previously suggested he could return to the Premier League, he admits that possibility has “gone down a little bit” after settling into life in Germany.

With Lewandowski’s future unresolved and Barcelona reportedly keeping a close eye, Kane’s next move could shape one of the biggest transfer stories of 2026.
