Barcelona 3–1 Alaves: Olmo Nets Clinical Brace as Hosts Seal Comeback Victory

Barcelona produced a strong comeback at the reopened Camp Nou as Dani Olmo’s brilliant brace, coupled with a Lamine Yamal equaliser, secured a 3–1 victory over Alaves. The win temporarily moves Barça two points clear of Real Madrid, who face Girona on Sunday.

Alaves stunned the home crowd with a goal inside the opening minute. Pablo Ibáñez reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and calmly finished from close range, giving the visitors an unexpected early advantage.

Still reeling from their heavy defeat to Chelsea during the week, Barcelona responded almost immediately. In the seventh minute, Yamal levelled the contest with a powerful strike into the roof of the net after meeting Raphinha’s pinpoint cross.

Barcelona continued to push forward, and their pressure paid off in the 26th minute when Olmo tucked a composed, side-footed effort past goalkeeper Antonio Sivera from the edge of the area to complete the turnaround.

Yamal nearly added a spectacular second just before the break, his curling effort clipping the outside of the post. Alaves also had a big chance to equalise when Lucas Boyé scuffed wide from close range in a moment he will regret.

The second half saw Hansi Flick’s side withstand a determined late surge from Alaves. Pau Cubarsí made a crucial intervention to block Boyé’s goal-bound shot at the near post, while Joan García reacted sharply to keep out Jon Guridi’s drive.

Barcelona finally put the game to bed in stoppage time. Yamal delivered a perfectly weighted through-ball to Olmo, who raced through on goal and slotted a low finish into the bottom corner to secure his brace and the points.

The victory restores momentum for Barça and keeps the pressure firmly on their title rivals.
